For best results pan fry from defrost. The following instructions are guidelines only. Ensure that the product is thoroughly cooked before serving. Do NOT refreeze after defrosting.

PAN FRY from Defrost

  • Defrost in a refrigerator for 12 hours
  • Remove from all packaging before cooking.
  • Allow steak to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Rub the steak with a little oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a heavy based frying pan over a high heat for 2-3 minutes.
  • Place the steak in the dry pan and cook over a high heat for 1 minute each side.
  • Reduce heat to medium and continue to cook to your liking for a further:
    • 2 minutes each side for rare.
    • 3 minutes each side for medium.
    • 4 minutes each side for well done.

Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours. Keep frozen at -18°C. Best before date indicated on the pack.

Awesome product

Bought several 'unusual' meat products for Xmas and this one was an absolute winner. Superb quality, amazing flavour and excellent price. I'm buying some more now!!

Kangaroo Fillet Steak

Had this for dinner with my wife recently. Although we purchased this via Iceland, it was a Kezie Product. I defrosted them and patted the steaks dry (No one wants their steak Stewed when it is supposed to be fast fried). I did not tell my wife what we were having only that we would be having Fillet steak with Chips (for the Americans that would be Steak Cut Fries) with a side salad and a Diane Sauce. (i always cook my steaks in a VERY HOT Cast Iron Skillet Pan) I prefer my steak cooked medium Rare, which is the way I cooked them. As with Beef steak I allow 3 minutes resting time before serving. My wife and I ate our meal, which was fantastic and very tender. Only after my wife had cleared her plate, did I tell her that she had eaten Kangeroo. (as my wife tends to have a closed mind when it comes to eating exotic foods) So to the important part. The steaks were as tender as any fillet steak I have eaten out. The flavour was interesting, It sort of tasted like beef but with a very slight Game taste. I personally would say that there was a Hint and I do mean just a hint of Lambs Liver. My wife loved the meat and we will be having it again. I am not a chef anymore but have worked in the industry as a Mediterranean Chef for 17 years (and that was almost 20 years ago) so I am quite honest when reviewing any food and its qualities as well as being open to new flavours. The meat was extremely lean and tender (quite Bloody so do not forget to dry) the package was vacuum sealed at source to all the flavours locked in. Tip for folks that are new to this meat do NOT be tempted to overcook and do not add to many flavours to the cooking process. I will be buying this meat again

Great with diane sauce.

Cooked medium rare, the meat is tender and succulent, though a really sharp steak knife helps :) The diane sauce (from tesco) is a perfect match for this steak.
